§ 1-12.1. Assessment for construction, renovation or maintenance of courthouse, jail and court-related facilities as part of costs in criminal or traffic cases.

  • (a)

    Amount of fee: A fee of two dollars ($2.00) shall be assessed for each and every qualifying civil and criminal or traffic action filed in the courts located within the boundaries of the County of Stafford. The assessments provided for herein shall be in addition to all other costs prescribed by law but shall not apply to any action in which the commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof or the federal government is a party and in which costs are assessed against the commonwealth, political subdivision thereof, or federal government.

    (b)

    Collection of fees: The assessed fees shall be collected by the clerk of the court in which the action was filed and remitted to the county treasurer.

    (c)

    Payment of fees: The treasurer shall hold said fees collected subject to disbursements by the Stafford County board of supervisors for the construction, renovation or maintenance of courthouse, jail and court-related facilities.
